The African American Flag was created in 1917. The African American Flag was created by Marcus Garvey. This Afro-American Flag is a symbol of African and African-American unity and pride. This design was adopted on August 13, 1920 as the official banner of the African Race in article 39 of the Declaration of Rights of the Negro Peoples of the World at a meeting of the Universal Negro Improvement Association and African Communities League (UNIA) held in New York City.
