WW2 Axis
Axis Power Flags of World War II
During World War II (WW2), the Axis powers consisted of key nations including Germany, Italy, and Japan, who opposed the Allied forces. The Axis powers were ultimately defeated in 1945, marking the end of one of the most significant conflicts in history.
Here, we showcase some of the historical flags from that era. While the German National Socialist (Nazi) flag often provokes strong reactions due to its association with atrocities, it’s worth noting that Japan’s Rising Sun flag, used by the Imperial Japanese military, does not always receive the same response, despite its similarly controversial past. Interestingly, a version of the Rising Sun flag is still in use by Japan today.
From Wikipedia: "A well-known variant of the sun disc design is the sun disc with 16 red rays in a Siemens star formation, which was historically used by Japan's military, particularly the Imperial Japanese Army and Navy."
